This week in maths, we began learning about fractions.
So far this is what we know...
Fractions are equal parts of a whole object
or set.
We cut one whole piece of play dough into 2 equal pieces to share with a friend.
We learned when you cut an object into 2 pieces - each part is called a half, 1/2

S.P.C.A.
Today we had a visit from the
Wellington S.P.C.A.
Jennifer brought Tilly with her.
Tilly is looking for the doggy treats!
Animals depend on people to lead
a happy and healthy life.
As a responsible pet owner
we must provide
The Five Freedoms.
1. Freedom from hunger or thirst.
2. Freedom from discomfort.
3. Freedom from injury or disease.
4. Freedom from distress or pain.
5. Freedom to express normal behaviour.
People need the same things too!
We each got a chance to pat Tilly.
Here is our donation to the S.P.C.A.
Thank you Jennifer and Tilly!

Special Visitors.....
Today Rata had a visit from Ali and her guide dog Ella.
We learn't about the amazing things Ella does for Ali, who is blind.
We learn't that a guide dog can understand 200 instructions.
Ella goes everywhere with Ali. She can even sit next to Ali on an aeroplane.

Pentominoes
Have you ever heard of pentominoes?
Pentominoes are made by joining
5 squares, edge to edge.
How many different ways
can we join 5 squares?
There are 12 pentominoes!
We played Pentomino Squeeze
where you place the pentominoes
on a grid without overlapping.
Not perfect,
but a great effort
and a lot of fun!
and a lot of fun!
